What the app does with your data

Burn Shield has no account, no analytics of its own and no server. Everything it reads or records stays on your phone and is deleted when you uninstall the app (or clear its storage):

your settings: protection mode, strength, dim, the apps you chose, the spots you marked;
protected-hours statistics per day (kept for 60 days);
the battery temperature, read on the phone to dim more when it is hot;
only if you turn on Auto mode and grant Usage access: which app is in front. It is read on the phone to switch the layer on and off and is not stored or sent anywhere.

The protective layer is a transparent window over other apps. It does not read, capture, record or store what is on your screen, and it never receives your touches.

Advertising

The app shows ads from Google AdMob. Google may collect your device's advertising ID, approximate location derived from the IP address, information about ad interactions and diagnostics to show and measure ads. In the European Economic Area and the UK you are asked for consent first, and you can change it any time in Settings, "Ad privacy choices". See how Google uses information from apps that use its services. Burn Shield Pro removes the ads.

Purchases

Burn Shield Pro is a subscription bought through Google Play. We never see your payment details; Google Play tells the app only whether the subscription is active. You can cancel it any time in Google Play.

Permissions

Display over other apps: draws the protective layer. Asked after an explanation in the app.
Usage access (optional): only for Auto mode, as described above.
Notifications: shows that protection is running, with Pause and Stop buttons.
Foreground service and start after reboot: keep the layer running while protection is on and restart it after a restart of the phone.
Internet: ads, purchases and Play updates. Protection itself works offline.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
